Team Janet

When Janet was first diagnosed with cancer, a team of caretakers organically assembled around her to help during the last 3 months of her life. Janet was so fortunate to have so many loving friends and family members looking in on her and calling her, but this intimate crew was there around the clock for the day-to-day care-taking, the long, sleepless nights, the health advocacy, the bill paying, the legal aid, organizing final arrangements, the hard conversations, and the care-taking of each other, etc...this A-team put their own families and lives aside to help provide the necessary aid for Janet, along with the utmost love, affection and friendship during her final weeks on this planet.

Thus, we honor 'Team Janet":

Marge Perry Aka "Marge in Charge" This is the unstoppable woman you want at the helm when things get tough. Really tough. A loyal friend, supreme organizer and health advocate, Marge's background in oncology drugs and life sciences was a godsend. Marge addressed all details for everything before they were even thought of.	Mick Joseph A loving nurse not-by-trade (although you would never know!) Mick's incredible attention to details helped ease transitions for Janet, alleviating stress, providing comfort and love to the very end.	Christine Dirringer Unbelievably detail-oriented and well-skilled at scavenger hunts, Christine's "Can Do" attitude and financial wizardry helped reassure Janet that things were taken care of at home while she established a residency at memorial Sloane Kettering.
Kirsten & Tommy Koehne Janet's pride and joy; the best children you could ever ask a husband for! These two had a lot of growing up to do during the last six months. They catered to Janet's every need, helping with the finances, and sitting vigil by her bedside on most nights while still grieving the loss of their father. These two emanate strength in character and strength in courage.	Steve Lueker The rock & roll lawyer who provided legal and financial counsel, and along with Marge and Christine also helped with the admin help at home, provided endless entertainment in the oncology ward, at the wake and the funeral!	Emily San Martin Only a mother's love could get Janet through the darkest of times; Emily was that pillar of strength. For a woman who faced such hardships in her life, she had such grace and inner strength in dealing with Janet's illness. She was lovingly devoted to Janet and never left her side once.

A special thanks to Rose Tirelli, Viviane Gabard, Mavis Scanlon, Gregor Fox, Drew and Claus Roennex-Printz who provided an extra dose of love, compassion and care during those final weeks.
